Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins is a third novel in a trilogy. The first two- The Hunger Games and Catching fire highlight the games and what is does. In the third and final book it highlights the rebellion that is happening and the war happening between all thirteen districts.
In The Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen volunteers for her sister Prim to go into the arena. The first book is all about the games. It highlights how she feels about them and how she survives them. Through this battle she starts to care for the young boy who was chosen to compete from her district, Peeta Mellark. They end up defying the Capitol to save one another.
In Catching Fire she is again chosen in the Quarter Quell where previous victors have to go back into the arena. Peeta is again sent back in with her. They are forced to team up with other victors from other districts. In the end Katniss and Peeta end up being key players in the rebellion without knowing it and being told what was happening in the hidden district.
In Mockingjay Katniss is taken to district thirteen. This district was supposedly destroyed 75 years ago. It had been a hidden underground so that the other districts didn’t know that it existed. Peeta got captured by the capitol after the Quarter Quell. Through out the book Katniss is portrayed as the Mockingjay the symbol of rebellion. They go to war with the Capitol and her ultimate plan is to kill President Snow. But a dramatic turn of events take place.
